Yosef Twito

Jul 10, 2001 | 19th of Tammuz, 5761 | י״ט בתמוז תשס״א

July 10, 2001 – Yosef Twito, 45 of Lod was shot and killed by two Palestinian terrorists while on guard duty at the Mekorot station in Moshav Ahisemekh.

Yosef Twito, son of Mathilda and Shmuel was born in Lod in June 1956. He was raised in the city of his birth and completed his education there. He was recruited into the IDF at age 18, where he became proficient in the use of heavy earth-moving equipment. During his army service, Yosef Twito was severely injured and was hospitalized for an extended period. His injuries were so severe that he received medical treatment for the remainder of his life. Despite this, he was always good natured and happy and loved to sing at family occasions. While he and his wife wanted to raise a family, their efforts to have children were unsuccessful.

At the time of his death, Yosef Twito was employed as a civilian security guard. Two shots were fired into his head by Palestinian terrorists while he was guarding the Mekorot facility at Moshav Ahisemekh.

Yosef Twito was buried in the Lod cemetery. He is survived by his wife Mazal, two brothers Nissim and Zion and two sisters, Nina and Sarah.
