Aug 4, 2002 – Rebecca Roga, 40 of the Philippines was one of 9 people killed in the suicide bombing of Egged bus No. 361 traveling from Haifa to Safed at the Meron junction in northern Israel.

Egged bus No. 361 left Haifa for Safed at 7:15 Sunday morning. The terrorist who had boarded the bus, exploded the bomb at the Meron junction near Safed just before 9:00. The blast blew off the roof of the bus which then burst into flames, killing or wounding nearly everyone inside.

Rebecca Roga a caregiver from the Philippines, was killed along with another caregiver Adelina Konone, who had just gotton off the bus. Rebecca had lived with and took care of Simi Kokon 72, of Moshav Safsufa during the last year and a half. “Rebecca was one of the family,” Simi said. “She was content with everything she received.”

Rebecca had a sister in Jerusalem with whom she would spend her weekly day off, together with Adelina Konone who worked for the Elkavetz family across the street. They would always return promptly on Sunday morning.

Simi Kokon said that she didn’t know much about Rebecca’s personal life, but believed that she was a widow and had no children. Rebecca Roga was flown home for burial.

Israel's Voice commitment to memorialize each victim of terror doesn't end here. We are currently reaching out to those who have been victimized and to every family who's lost loved one(s) due to terror. Your story must be told and we intend to create a documentary for each individual. Silence is no longer an option. Contact us today to set up an appointment. info@israelvoice.org Our preference is to make your story heard in English, but Hebrew is also fine. Videos will be subtitled for the world to understand.
