Jun 1, 2001 | 10th of Sivan, 5761 | י׳ בסיון תשס״א
June 1, 2001 – Pvt. Diez Normanov, 21 of Tel Aviv was one of 21 people killed in a suicide bombing at a Tel-Aviv discotheque shortly before midnight on Friday night.
Diez Normanov immigrated to Israel from Uzbekistan in October 1999 leaving behind his family in Tashkent. After initially attending a yeshiva in Migdal Haemek, he later left the yeshiva and shared a rented apartment in Tel-Aviv. He worked and sent some of his earnings home to help support his ailing father.
Diez (Dani) began his IDF service just a month before this attack.
On June 1 on his first army leave, he went to the Dolphin discotheque to surprise his girlfriend Natalie who was there celebrating her friend’s birthday. He called her cellphone and said, “Look behind you. I love you.” Then she heard the explosion.
Diez’s parents, who arrived in Israel for the funeral, decided to bury him here in the Kiryat Shaul cemetery in Tel-Aviv.

Your story must be told and we intend to create a documentary for each individual. Silence is no longer an option. Contact us today to set up an appointment. firstname.lastname@example.org Our preference is to make your story heard in English, but Hebrew is also fine. Videos will be subtitled for the world to understand.
