Aleksei Lupalu

June 1, 2001 – Aleksei Lupalu, 16, of the Ukraine, was one of 21 people killed in a suicide bombing at a Tel-Aviv discotheque shortly before midnight on Friday night.

Aleksei was killed only six months after arriving in Israel with his family from the Ukraine. They are not Jewish, but came to work in Israel to save money, hoping to improve their financial situation and then to return home.

Aleksei is survived by his parents, Lova and Ivan, and by his older sister. His family announced their decision to return to the Ukraine, where Aleksei was buried.
